The top paying careers for new college graduates include chemical engineering, with an average starting salary of around $60,000. High salary jobs in the engineering field also include electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, with starting salaries around $55,000. Computer science is another top paying career and starts new hires at around $53,000. Civil engineering, accounting, finance, management information systems, business administration and economics are also among the best paying majors, with salaries ranging from $40,000 to $48,000.
