Best Places to Raise a Family
Posted by: Lisa Nichols | May 21,2008
The best places to raise a family might surprise you. When you’re starting a family, your priorities start to change, too. Finding safe places to live, beautiful countryside and some cultural influences are among the top priorities of people who are looking to move and relocate with kids. The Best Life magazine editors compiled a list of the best places to live for people who want to start a family. The editors looked at quality of life, safety, schools and a number of other factors to help families decide where to move.
Natural Beauty Surrounds Many of the Best Places to Start a Family
Many of the best places to start a family are surrounded by natural beauty. The editors included Honolulu, Hawaii, Billings, Montana, San Diego, California and Virginia Beach, Virginia in their top ten best places to raise a family. Portland, Oregon, Boise, Idaho, San Bernadino, California and Phoenix, Arizona also made the top 100 list of safe places to live. Moving and relocating to these towns to start a family offers families an opportunity to focus on the beauty of nature and affords them plenty of ways to share time together in the great outdoors throughout the year.
Starting a Family in a Small Town
Not surprisingly, a number of the best places to start a family on the Best Life list included small towns. Small town life is thought by many to be idyllic and small towns are generally considered safe places to live. Some of the small towns included on the list, like Augusta, Georgia, Bellevue, Washington and Lowell, Massachusetts, have a thriving artist or college community nearby. The cultural aspects of living close to a school, or being a haven for artists, helps make many of these towns the best places to start a family.
Save Money on Moving and Relocation Expenses
Before you consider moving and relocating to a new town, consider the best ways to save money on the move. Transferring high interest debts to a low interest credit card can help you improve your credit score and help you get the best home loan rates. Putting all of your moving and relocation expenses on a cash back credit card nets you an additional savings and makes it easier to track your moving expenses at tax time.
