Tips to Help You Improve Your Credit Score
Posted by: Allie P. | Jan 19,2008
When you’re starting out, improving your credit score can seem like a far-off goal. It doesn’t have to be. There are some easy steps you can take to improve your credit score. Your credit score affects the types of credit card offers and loan interest rate offers you receive. If you have a poor credit score, the offers won’t be as affordable or attractive. Tips you can use to improve your credit score:
Order your credit report with credit score. This will give you a starting point to improving your score. Make sure that the credit report doesn’t have anything that looks incorrect or suspicious. If your credit report shows information about loans and credit cards that you no longer use, that’s ok. As long as your payment history for those accounts is positive, the history can help improve your credit score.
Improve your credit score by reducing the amount you owe on the credit cards you have. Your credit score is in part based on the amount of debt you have and the amount of credit you have available.
Break up spending so some of your expenses are paid in cash or by check to improve your credit score. If you rely on your credit cards too much, it can pull down your credit score.
