Starting Out: More of the Best Places to Work
Posted by: Allie P. | Jan 14,2008
Yesterday we started talking about some of the best places to work when you’re starting out. Forbes recently released their list for the best cities to find jobs in 2008, which may prove to be yet another year with a shaky job market. The best places to work in 2008 include:
Funky and fun Austin, Texas is one of the best cities to find jobs. Texas in general is looking positive for the 2008 job market due to a variety of factors. The hospitality sector is booming, and Texas cities offer attractive incentives for companies to relocate to the state and hire new employees.
The 2008 job market in Atlanta, Georgia, looks promising due in part to an influx of jobs in financial services, distribution and transportation. Georgia’s overall unemployment rate decreased in 2007 from the year before. In addition, the Hudson Employment Index, which tracks workers’ outlooks every month, showed Atlanta workers were more satisfied with their jobs at year end 2007 than in 2006.
When you’re starting out, be open to moving to different cities to find jobs. The 2008 job market is still up in the air, but it doesn’t look promising. Be open to going where the jobs are- you can always get an airline rewards card to buy plane tickets when you want to visit your family and friends.
