Learn More Before You Apply for Credit Card Offers
Posted by: Allie P. | Jan 09,2008
One of the biggest complaints I hear from friends is that they didn’t learn enough about a credit card offer before they applied. Actually, that’s not true. What they say is that they feel like they got a raw deal on their new credit card. What I hear them saying is that they didn’t take the time to read the fine print before they applied for the credit card. What you need to know before you apply for credit card offers:
Credit card offers online and that come in the mail have a disclosure page or document that outlines all of the applicable fees and interest rates. Before you apply for a credit card, make sure you read the disclosure and feel comfortable with the fees and interest rates.
Rewards credit cards are amazing- you can earn cash back, free travel and a bunch of other freebies when you apply for this kind of card. But, rewards credit cards usually come with a trade-off, in the form of a higher interest rate. Make sure you’re comfortable with the annual percentage rate (APR) before you apply for a rewards credit card.
Late fees, annual fees and balance transfer fees can pile up if you’re not careful. Find out what you’ll be charged for using a credit card before you apply.
