Ways to Save Money in the New Year: Getting Rid of Your Land Line
Posted by: Lisa N. | Jan 02,2008
While you think about ways to save money this year, you might want to consider getting rid of your land line. I did this several years ago, moving solely to a cell phone, and I’ve never looked back. I love the many features of my phone, including text messages and email.
Even when the power goes out, I still always seem to have my cell phone and voicemail service. When I had my land line and a thunderstorm threatened, I’d often lose both my phone and my messages for several hours. What you need to consider if you’re thinking about losing your land line and just using your cell phone instead:
For me, getting the “free” long distance included with my cell phone was a major factor in switching over from a land line to a mobile phone. Long distance was getting more and more costly on my land line and it finally felt like a wash.I also felt like it was more convenient to just have one, multi-purpose phone that did double-duty as my home and business phone.
Take the time to compare prices and reevaluate your phone services this month. You can compare prices for cell phone and long distance services online at LowerMyBills.com. You’ll find offers from all of the major cell phone carriers and you can save up to 70% on long distance.
