Getting a Credit Card When You Have Poor Credit
Posted by: Lisa N. | Dec 31,2007
If you have poor credit, getting a credit card can be a challenge. You need to work on building a solid credit history, and making regular payments on a credit card and using the credit card responsibly can be a great start.
If you have negative items in your credit history, you may have poor credit. Negative items might include only having a current credit card limit of less than $5,000 or making late payments on credit cards or loan payments. If you’ve only had a credit card or loan for a short time, or have never had a credit card in your name, then you might also be a good candidate for a credit card for people with poor credit.
If you fit some or all of these criteria, you may be eligible for the Capital One Standard Platinum credit card. The poor credit credit card has no annual fee, no balance transfer fees and 0% APR on purchases until June 2008. The regular APR for the Capital One Standard Platinum credit card is variable- the current rate is 19.8%.
