VoIP (Voice-over-Internet-Protocol) solutions allow you to make long distance calls using your high-speed internet connection. There are a number of pros and cons to using VoIP phone services. Some of the pros of using VoIP phone solutions:
- You can save a lot of money on your long distance calls when you use VoIP phone service. You don’t have to have a land line in order to use the service- it works with your high speed connection.
- You can access services like video conferencing when you use VoIP solutions.
- Since you use VoIP phone services on your computer, you have all of your voicemail and email in one place. Some providers will turn your voicemail into email or vice versa. And depending upon which VoIP phone service you use, you can take it with you when you travel if you have it set up on your notebook.
- VoIP solutions aren’t free. You will be billed for the phone service in addition to your high speed internet service.
- You may not have access to services like 411 directory information or 911 emergency services when you use VoIP solutions.
- You might be subject to spam when you use VoIP phone service.
