Compare Credit Card Offers to Find the Best Deal
Posted by: Lisa N. | Jan 06,2008
Compare credit card offers so you can find the best deal for you. All too often, I hear from people who tried, unsuccessfully, to find a good deal on a credit card. It’s not as hard as it seems, but finding the best card does take some research. What you need to look for when you compare credit card offers:
Hidden fees are at the root of the complaints most people have about unexpected (and unwanted) credit card debt. Read credit card disclosures when you compare offers and pay close attention to annual fees, processing fees and application fees. These are the fees most often waived by credit cards.
Interest rates are the cost of using a credit card, and are applied to any balance you have that carries over each month on your card. When you compare credit card offers, look for the annual percentage rate (APR) on the disclosure form. If the credit card has an introductory interest rate, find out when it ends and what it will be once the promotional period is over.
Fees that you can avoid with any credit card include late fees and over the limit fees. Late fees are incurred when you pay your monthly payment any time past the due date and can be steep. Over the limit fees occur when you go over your predetermined credit card balance. The worst part of either of these fees is that they can negatively impact your credit card’s interest rate.
